All models must be aligned with at least one metamodel. Metamodels dictate which object types (with assigned attribute types), relationship types and diagram types are available to users of a model. Only admin users can add metamodels.
Metamodels can be imported, using the import button.
Metamodels can be set as default, and one can be assigned as a default primary metamodel. This means when a model is created, the metamodel is allocated by default to the model.
- Click the Create Metamodel button from the metamodel manager tab
- Use the Object Types, Relationship Types and Diagram Types tabs to allocate content to the metamodel by selecting it then clicking on the right arrow
- The relationship types tab has a radio button for "Parent / Child", this will be defaulted to the first relationship in the list if it is not selected. This will define which relationship type is used when a hierarchy is created in the tree of the model.
- Click save when all of the required content is allocated to the metamodel
